Thai Entertainment Industry A Haven For Pedophiles?

Recommended Posts

Last week I was in a taxi I was talking with the drivers about the the Lakorn actresses I like. He told me that there is sad story behind many of these. he went even further saying that many of the stars we see on TV today were abused by pedophile agents, directors and producers. I asked him if he had any sources and he said that he had been a personal driver of someone big in branch.

Is there anything to this or is this just made BS by the taxi driver? Any thoughts?

It could very well be so. Few years ago thre was a big expose in the west about young models who had their lives taken over by unscrupulous agents. Because Mama wanted her daughter to be famous, a blind eye was turned in many cases

The Thai Entertainment industry is no more corrupt or less corrupt than the rest of Thailand. Whether that is good or bad (considering the state of corruption in Thailand generally) I leave it to you to decide.

Certainly there are agents who take advantage of entetainers...and you can be equally sure there are entertainers who are quite willing to be "taken advantage of" (financially and otherwide" for their chance at the big time/big bucks.

As is true generally in Thailand...the entertainment industry has it share of "big family surnames" as my Thai girlfriend calls them, who try to use their influence/money/connections in the entertainment industry as well as in other sectors of Thai society.

However he same is true in many countries of the world...including Korea, Japan, and the Phillipines.

But, as Thais love to gossip and tell stories, I wouldn't be sure about what a taxi driver tells you. On the average I would guess it is a little bit of truth, and a lot of hype and exageration...with that part getting a little bigger every time the story is repeated.

Maybe the Taxi driver should join ThaiVisa, he seems to have all the attributes.

It's pretty dirty, just like anywhere else. That said, not everyone has to fall into the meat grinder, parents who have plenty of spare time and are involved shouldn't have any problems, no different than sending one's attractive and not yet worldly children off to tour the world, go to summer camp, or take taekwondo. The risks involved aren't so different.

How do you think so many untalented actress get to the top at 14-18? There's 69mil people, for sure there's better looking and more talented actresses than those on TV/movies. Those who give themselves up to the old agents always get the job.

Same in the west, except it happens less nowadays

Celine dion, love affair with oldfart rené angelil when she was 15

Some of the biggest TV star(mostly talk shows now) where im from, where all abused by the same agent, BOY AND GIRL.. at 12-14.. That one is in jail at least.

That is probably the way it works. I see a lot of young mixed children in the entertainment industry. I wonder why the parents will endorse it if such things arw going on the back scene. Or don't the parents care as long as it makes their child famous?

Watch some american reality talent shows for kids under 12.. (they had them 5 years ago at least)

Those parents are fat ass monsters trying to live through their kids by ruining their lives.

Beauty pageant comes to mind

Same applies to some Thai moms who want their kids "to have it better" and they mean themselves too, that is why they happily offer their kids to any agents or sometimes conartist who promise to make thier kids famous. When I was seven one agent (called maew mong in Thai) approached my mom too as they wanted to make some candy ad. However my father refused this and said that entertainment industry is full of sh...t and did not want me to do it. In retro perspective I do not know if this was good or bad decision of my father.

Acorns and trees. Plenty of exceptions but work ethic and X hundred other personality traits don't vary that much from generation to generation.

If you are meant to be a star, you'll be one as soon as you try to get in the industry. I watched a video of Elmo with destiny child with my kid recently. Like before Beyonce was a major star. You can clearly see she IS the show and that the other 2 dont have "IT".. those 2 are gone now, nowhere to be seen and beyonce is huge. Lots of good actors(and many of them ugly) are all around because of their IT factor and talents. Most child actors are Drug head or deadbeats nowadays if you follow gossips. Those who are left like Neil patrick harris, sarah michelle gellar and a few others probably just had the IT factor and would of made it on their own.

Sadly in Thailand the parents seem to endorse it. Why?

do you take everything thai taxi drivers tell you as the infallible truth?

No I do not. But there are also other sources. However nobody who can really prove anything pro or con. Can you?

I wouldn't necessarily agree. The experience my niece here has had with GMM Grammy has been outstanding in terms of staff welfare, career path direction, mentors etc. Nothing under-handed, or unethical (so far).

Sadly much truth in these posts. Its an unforgiving industry. On the other side look at Jackie Evancho and her story on You Tube. Maybe the best voice in the world at present and only 10 years old. But clearly, will be carefully nurtured.

So true. The entertainment industry so not give a d_amn about its "stars" or the population it is fool. Many celebs have f_ucked up lives due to the stress and pressure theya re put through but who cares as long as the bug media gets its rating and profit.

Michael Jackson.......the ultimate example of the above........and look what happened to him.

Yes Michael Jackson's case is a very scary. I read that he was abused and brainwashed and when he started to break free they made him die.

I was wondering if mind control is going on behind the scenes even in Thailand. That would be sad if that were the case.

You don't have to look behind the scenes, just drive down any road
