British Police presented Vachira hospital with wheel chairs for medical purposes.

Six wheelchairs worth over 500,000 baht were presented yesterday afternoon to the Director of Vachira hospital, Dr. Jesada Jongpaiboonpatana, by Detective Superintendent Derek Forest from the UK police force currently based at the Information Management Centre of the Thai Tsunami Victim Identification Centre.

The donation is expected to add more medical equipment for the hospital in coping with the number of patients. The British Police also plan to give out more wheel chairs & equipment to Patong Hospital and also for the Special School in Paklok sub district including a new playground, all worth over 1 million baht.

After Thailand was hit by the tsunami, British police officers have been very active in assisting identification of victims and this time placed their help and importance on younger survivors.

A new children’s playground is opened at Sapan Hin.

A brand new children’s playground located in a public park, near the sports centre at Sapan Hin, under the care of Phuket City Office, was officially opened on August the 12th by the Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwansupana. The new facility, costing 3 million baht to build, comprises many kinds of good standard equipment like swings, slides and climbing frames, all children’s favourites. They are very popular in the evening after school. The new facility adds another recreational area for families which is one of Phuket City’s main aims to promote a good quality of life for people in the city.
