If I use Virtual CloneDrive, would I be able to playback hundreds of movies in the TV? If I understand their website correctly, I would have to mount each movie as a virtual drive. Must this be done at the time of playback (which probably cannot be done by the TV) or must this be done at the time of creation? But then, am I limited by the letters A, B, C for the number of drives?

If I just want to create a file the player software can play back, which program would you recommend?

Depends on the system you are using such as a Media box or PC as media center. Some can play an .iso file with DVD embedded in it directly without having to mount it. You can go up to Z for drives but you only need to mount the drive(s) when you are ready to watch. This just is a right click on the .iso file and select Mount. Couple of seconds max.

Guess the key question is what are you planning on using to play the saved movies?

Thanks a lot. I use my TV to directly play back the movies stored on an external hard disk. It's a new Samsung LED TV with a built-in kind of media player.

Now, if I "ripp" a DVD, it seems to me I loose quality. I guess I have to experiment and try out which format the TV can lay back.

Thanks for the valuable tips.
