For the last 3 days, I can no longer surf the web while downloading torrent files. Doesn't seem to be speed related. The torrent files are coming in fairly quick. If I close the torrent client, web surfing is responsive. If I try to do both at the same time, web sites do not load or require reloading several time to come up. Off to investigate other providers today. Thinking True might be worth a try if they are available in my area (Nong Hoi, Chiang Mai). :annoyed:

Call 1530 and complain. Interesting thing the lady on the phone yesterday told me she'd put me on another IP address range. I don't know what that means, but internet seems much more responsive today. What's your WAN IP address? Does it start with 180.....?

I called yesterday. She said there was nothing wrong with the line, but was going to refer it to an engineer.

IP is 180.183.145.208, Gateway IP is 180.183.144.1. I am using the Google DNS, I tried another DNS, with no improvement.

Yes, in Pattaya I switched to 3BB from TOT 3 1/2 months ago and have had excellent service ... until 3 days ago. Monday and Tuesday it was deadly early in the morning and by night time it was good again. Today, Wednesday, at about 11:30 in the morning, it still barely moving.

Some sites in Thailand, like Bangkok Bank's website, seem unaffected, but those sites that I assume are based in the US are very slow. I suppose it must be in part due to pre-Christmas Internet traffic in the US with schools closed and increased web access demands here with the influx of tourists, but it is really frustrating.

I've called their help number on Monday and Tuesday. There was an improvement sometime afterwards, but not sure if that was coincidence. Today I haven't bothered calling and the problem continues.

Yeah I got 3BB (old TT&T international package) and lately, starting at 19:00 hours for about an hour it really s*cks. It used to be very good, but nowadays.... well... I can't use those kind of words on this forum whistling.gif

Switching to another provider? Well, there are certainly no guarantees, as we all know.

From what I gather. most of the people in the neighborhood are using 3BB. Hoping if I get something less popular, it may be better. It is really bad today.

Called again and they gave the typical annoying response that they checked everything, so the problem must be at my end.

As it turns out they were right. :( A problem with wiring within my building. Now things are pretty much back to normal ... good in Thailand and good to sluggish overseas.

Yesterday, after they switched me to the 128.x.x.x IP range, my speeds were *much* better.

The clearest example is my VPN connection - when I connect VPN, I get a password prompt after it's reached the sever.

On the 180. IP range, this takes a very long time - 10, 20 seconds

On the 128.x.x IP, it takes less than 1 second - every single time

To drive home this point, my IP reset yesterday evening to 180.x again, and my speeds went to sh*it again - and the VPN connection, again, took ages.

So there's something screwed with the 180.x.x.x IP and my guess is too many people on it, and they're probably sharing the outgoing lines, and lots of you people are torrenting like crazy.

The speed test sites, as we all know, are useless - rigged by 3BB. Try speedtest.net to Modesto, CA or some other unknown site, you'll get 100KB down and 10 up or something like that.

I really wish True came here right now, I am not too excited about helping 3BB sort this out - but I guess I have no choice.

My 3BB service in Korat has been terrible. The technician came out twice but the service went out again. I also have payment problems with them and/or TT&T. Every year they seem to lose one of my payments. I have now decided to cancel the service and getting ready to try True since they are now available in my housing development!!! Anybody use TRUE that can advise me on the speed and service from them??? Thanks

True is coming on Saturday to hook me up with 10Mbps. Will be interesting to see how it compares with 3bb. They claim to have the most international bandwidth of all the ISPs. Couldn't be any worse.., could it?

No, according to many TV posts. Or, Yes, according to many TV posts. But it seems more people have positive experiences with True than bad experiences. Seems people have very different experiences with the same internet package from the same company. Seems to boil down to location, location, location. Good luck and Happy Holidays.

I've had issues the last week as well out here in Ubon. Bad timing with all the great American football bowl games coming up for download. :) 3BB has been great out here for the last year otherwise.

Reaching iTunes has been impossible.

Torrents have been hit and miss though I was maxing out my bandwidth this morning.

Uploading to server in the U.S. has been hit and miss.

Whatever the issue is, communicating with servers in the U.S. is definitely much worse this week.

I've had no problems with an AIS aircard and my neighbor's TOT.

All was fine until a few days ago, so I called the customer service centre I was very polite and patient with the girl on the phone she said she would have some one call me back straight away , well I waited 20 minutes and no call came, so I called back another 3 times and the same problem the last call I was told to put someone on the line who could speak Thai this was the English service centre!!!!!

Any way I said ok went and fetched my wife came back and line was dead.

I called again and let my wife speak to them the very first thing she did was to get the operators name etc and the managers name before moving on with the call and the problem, anyway one call from a fellow Thai and the problem was fixed I was happy.

Now fast forward 2 days the problems are back again a phone call from my wife and this time she was given the run around the final solution from the call staff at 3bb choose a new provider!

This I cannot do and I am sure they know this I paid for the lines to be put into our moo baan there are no other providers currently in this moo baan I can not wait for another service provider so I can jump ship.

True was supposed to come on Saturday. No show, no call. I called them. They are now coming on the 28th. Nice of them to let me know! Wasted my Saturday sitting around waiting for them. I do hope this is not a bad omen.

So we can only conclude that 3BB is in the toilet right now. Previously they've been great about calling back and such but now I've called 3 or 4 times, was promised call backs and solutions each time, and never delivered. Like TOT in the good (bad?) old days.

I can only speculate but if I'd had to take a guess it would be that they're having some serious technical issues, and are unable to fix them. I am sure they are working on it. But it could be a long while.

CAT CDMA once had a problem with disconnects - I called them about 20 times. Eventually, long after I'd given up on them, they fixed it - but it took 4 Months! So prepare for a similar wait for 3BB to get theirs done...

I'lll continue to call customer service... and I will check into whether TOT can be had around here. I already know True isn't coming out here, unfortunately.
