Former Russian spy Chapman begins political career

MOSCOW, RUSSIA (BNO NEWS) -- Former Russian spy Anna Chapman is looking to kick start her political career after gaining international fame when she was arrested along with 10 other alleged Russian spies in June, local media reported on Thursday.

Chapman, 28, was announced as a new member of the public council in Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's Young Guards, which is a youth branch of the United Russia party. Her duties, however, were not specified, but her constant appearances in Russia's public spotlight, including a current Playboy magazine - which uses nude photographs taken by her former husband - have well been taken into account by international media.

In October, the famed spy also made international headlines when Russia's edition of Maxim revealed that she would be appearing semi-nude in their November issue. The red-headed Chapman was featured wearing black lingerie, diamond earrings, and holding a silver automatic handgun.

Following the arrest of the ten sleeper agents on June 27, U.S. officials negotiated a swap with Russia for four imprisoned individuals accused of having trade secrets. Authorities say the 10 spies were unable to obtain any vital information of U.S. interest.
