Must Have Books...

Featured Replies

My stepson who is Thai is currently in his final year at college. Once he has finished at college, he has chosen to continue his education at University and study IT.

My question is..."where can we find IT related books written in Thai"...Javascript, HTML etc etc.....we have trawled the internet to no avail.!

We are based in Nongkhai and are prepared to travel down to Krungthep to buy any books. Any advice guys?

Thanks

Almost every Thai book store which I have been in has had a very large selection of such books and they are normally dirt cheap. I have always been somewhat jealous that they didn't have any of those books in English at the local book stores.

Just like Jimbo has said , any Thai bookshop. Try Se-ed Books in all Tesco Shopping Centres for a start. They have a massive section on IT.

Thanks guys...I cant say I've ever noticed anything in Tesco's and we have a pretty poor selection of bookshops in Nongkhai. I might try venturing to Udon Thani. Thanks again.

Its probably better in the long term getting his English reading skills up to par. Sure there are translated version of CSS3 for Dummies etc.. but all the books I consider 'gold' in that area I've not seen in the Thai bookstores. In addition all the blogs and design sites alistapart etc.. that you'll need are written in English. And of course YUI/youtube/vimeo - most of the screencasts are english too.

For Javascript all you need is Crockford JS series (free on YUI theatre) and for deeper understand Javascript - The Good Parts book.

For CSS, the W3C 2.1 Spec (free pdf/word doc) I find the most conclusive.
