Hi Members,

I am getting a prospective spouse visa together currently, I have just completed filling out everything and I am wondering if I need to send an Australian Federal Police criminal record certificate with it, as I don't want to bugger around giving DIAC extra documents after the initial application is made. Whats required for the visa application seems deliberately ambiguous, is loaded with tricky questions-anyone would think they want to make an industry out of these things!

Is it wise to include this Australian Federal Police criminal record certificate, if you want an expedient result?

My lady has no kids, never been married, I've never been married either and have no kids.

Grateful fellow member,

The applicant needs to provide a Police Certificate for every country in which she has spent more than 12 months in the last ten years. (including Australia)

The sponsor only has to provide an AFP certificate (and clearances from other countries if applicable) if there are children involved in the sponsorship.

(for obvious reasons)

If you are sponsoring a child under 18yo to Oz you will need to supply an AFP clearance for yourself, In your case if as stated, you will not be required to provide one.

So OC is correct
