Identifying A Person'S Address

Is there the equivalent of the UK Electoral Register in Thailand that can be accessed by anybody. I need to locate the address or phone number of somebody. I know the name and suburb of Bangkok where they live. I know the approximate location of where they live as I went there by taxi.

This is important so throwing a few baht at an investigator would be an option.

Answer: Yes there is, but it`s complicated. Usually these offices will not give out information to the general public. Enquiries need to be made by a lawyer or someone in officialdom, such as the police or law enforement officers.

You could try the local amphur offices in the area, land office and so on, but again they do not normally give out personal information. Another option is to search in a telephone directory or even the directory enquiries operator.

Have you tried searching the name in facebook, other social networking websites and search engines such as Google? You will be surprised at what results you may receive.

This is Thailand and greasing the right palms could help.

Even if you could access an "electoral register" many Thai people (particularly in Bangkok) are registered at their family home (usually up-country) and not actually where they live.

Cell phone records are held on servers which in Thailand are notably old, also information about where the person is can be used but only within a period of a few days, as records like that are deleted and only the called numbers log kept.

Not long if you hire the right investigator with connections with DSI. Look for reoccurring addresses and that's where they should be, you can also try to get public utility records but that's a longer shot, slip 500 baht and it should grease the wheels.

That will only work if they own the property, as opposed to renting,

and even then, no guarantee that the records are right...........

Well that's not how I read the other thread - more like he didn't believe her story of going to work in Vietnam. He says he wants to get things going again - it would seem she doesn't. Perhaps she wasn't telling the truth about going to work in Vietnam, but who'd blame her if some guy wont let things go?

Personally, I'd have to be fully acquainted before offering the advice he seeks i.e pretty sure that there was no sinister intent.
