Media Fastclick

Featured Replies

although I use Opera browser, sometimes an IE tab (no window, just the tab at the bottom of the screen) pops up, saying http:/www.media##.fastclick.net, whereas ## stands for a two digit number, which varies every time. Clicking on the tab does not open any IE window, however, with a right-click you cn close the tab.

Any idea what that is? How to get rid of it? I run X-Cleaner, Ad Aware and AntiVir. No alerts.

Thanks for advise!

It's a benign advertising cookie, and occasional popup ad. Won't hurt anything. I still don't care and have *.fastclick.net blocked at my router.

Ad-aware, spybot, MS anti-spy all clean it.

thanks! will try that...and sorry for posting in the wrong section.

Hello there,

Because you are using Opera and getting and internet explorer popup/tab appearing I suggest that you may well be infected with some form of spyware.

Ad-aware SE, Spybot and MS anti-spy will offer you some protection but not total protection and some nasties will get through.

There are many sites offering FREE advice on how to find and fix your problem. This may well involve download some more software to find the infection.

There are many sites outhere helping to fix malware but here is a link to a site where I volunteer my services in the battle against virus and malware.

Everybody here is a giving up their free time to help so please be patient. Also do not take advice from just a member, wait for admin or speacilist to help as these people have been trained.

Also there is no need to purchase any software as all the links you will be given are for free software.
