Has anybody bought near Sathorn Bridge at 'Baan Sathorn Chao Phraya'? If, so I'd be interested to know how you transfered funds from overseas - ie to your bank first or directly to the company's bank. It takes a lot of 'messing around' out of the equation to send to their bank account direct but is that risky? What did you do? My place is completed and the building is 98 per cent ready. What would you do - remit funds to your own bank first and do all the leg work or remit funds to the developer's bank and let them do all the leg work?

Amazing how people would throw their money, 100s Ks US$ into a black hole. Into the properties in a least livable city on the planet - Bangkok.

Nothing there should be priced more than 20-40K US$.

Again, they are reluctant to build a 10K house for their Thai girlfriends and their families unless it's in their own (farang) names.

Just look other therads around here.

I looked at this place a few weeks ago. Main problem seems to be the traffic pollution (noise and fumes) on the north side that overlooks the best city view, followed by the rediculous internal layout of the corner units that give the best view of the city to the bog! Why Thais like to locate the bathroom on the outside wall is a mystery to me. Once everyone has moved in, these corner units will look a real mess from the outside with each glass-walled bathroom displaying the usual varied Thai taste in curtains, which range from old newspapers taped together, to bedsheets suspended with nails. The best units in the internal corner of the building and looking north east over the city, with balconies are great in size, but the city view is from the master bedroom, every other room being windowless. Great if you are a Troglodite!

Glass bathroom walls are nice if you have the right layout.

Goofy layout when the bathrooms have glass walls and the other units have full view.

This project is a great example of why not to buy a condo before construction finishes.

Going to the sales office last year and they made no mention of the downside.

Never buy a condo untill you can walk inside and see what's really going on.

What is "all the legwork"? You would need to get a Foreign Exchange Transaction Certificate from your bank (which should be fairly straightforward). Then you can buy a draft or whatever to pay the developer upon transfer of the unit.

My wife bought a small unit on a high floor, in order to have a good view of the fireworks display on New Year’s Eve.

If, so I'd be interested to know how you transfered funds from overseas - ie to your bank first or directly to the company's bank.

Locally available funds were used and my wife was in Bangkok for the transfer: cashier’s cheque against title deed.

Remit to your own bank 1st then if everythings is ok you going to pay them after that.

Its no risky if you do it this way!

Warm Regards

Cynthia
