Deputy Prime Minister Suwat Liptapanlop inspected the tsunami area redevelopment project at Phi Phi Island in Krabi.

Visiting the tsunami stricken site which is under a redevelopment program at Phi Phi island in Krabi ,Deputy Prime Minister Suwat Liptapanlop was briefed on the project’s detail by Public Works and Town and Country Planning Inspector General. According to the department’s building rules, 12 meter high structures can be built between the first 30 & 50 metres from the shore, while 16 metre high buildings can be built between 150 & 300 metres away. Eight metre wide main evacuation routes are also designated in the middle of the island and are visible from both beaches of Ton Sai and Loh Dalam bay.

The Department of Public Works and Town and Country planning and the Designated Area for Sustainable Tourism Administration are assigned to design the redevelopment of the island with a budget of 100 million baht. Mr.Suwat told the offices to take into account, the natural theme when designing roads or power systems as Phi Phi is a world renowned tourist destination.
