Six people die in central China hotel fire

CHANGSHA, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- At least six people were killed on early Thursday morning when a fire broke out at a hotel in central China, state-run media reported.

The state-run Xinhua news agency said the fire at a small hotel in Yuelu District of Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province, broke out at around 0.55 a.m. local time. Few other details were immediately released.

Xinhua said six people choked to death as a result of toxic gas, while eight others were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
