Vets Near Mahasarakham

Featured Replies

I'm in Thailand visiting my gf and hope to move here eventually. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good vet near Mahasarakham. What has promted this is the death of one of my gf's young dogs (about 6 months I think). We had been to Lao and when we came back Nuan (I think that's about right for the spelling) was not eating and he got weaker untill he died. Back home I'd know exactly what to do but here I'm lost. My gf went to the vets house in the village who i think has a practice in the city and is a relative of her brother in law. He came round and gave an injection then came again the next day. He then turned up again a little while later with someone who apparently works for some ministry which I assume is probably the animal section of the agriculture ministry. He gave another injection although he had trouble finding a vein and thought Nuan would die which I thought as well. So you can see there was no lack of commitment and I'm sure they did there best. My problem is that whenever I've taken a dog or other larger animal for that matter with similar problems the vet always starts by feeling round the stomach and looking down the throat. In fact I wish i had done that but I never thought til after he died. They would probably do xrays or blood tests if needed as well.

I never want to go through that again. I know animals die and many people in rural areas wouldn't have the money to do this but I just felt I should be able to do more as I am able to pay. I assume there are good vets in KK but something nearer would be good so that when I come again I am ready if something happens.

RIP Nuan
