Greetings,

Love the forum.

I'm traveling to Thailand through Bangkok Airport. I hold a Saudi Arabian passport. Can I avoid having the visa/entry stamp stamped directly on my passport but rather on an external paper attached to passport? Unfortunately, the Saudi Government has travel restrictions for travel to Thailand and I wish to avoid harassment upon my return to Saudi..

Appreciate your advice,

Officially, it still exists. I'm told that passport renewal takes longer.

No such thing sorry. Thought KSA did away with that restriction about 5 years ago.

Hahahahaha now that's a good one. If this were the case none of us would ever need to get new passports until the old ones were expired but at least they would be empty and our wallets would be full of Passport / visa stamps. There is a LOT of crazy things that go on here in the LOS but not quite that crazy mate.

On the other hand it wouldnt hurt to ask. At least you will get a laugh out of them unlike what most of us get.

I'm glad you find the question amusing..

The idea of having visa/stamp on an external document is not new. In fact, during the cold war that was the practice of some eastern block countries for visitors from countries that have no diplomatic relations with them. This was to protect and encourage tourists.

So the idea is not that crazy mate..

The Thai embassy in Riyadh http://riyadh.thaiembassy.org/ would be a good starting place, they will likely have seen this problem many times and may have a solution.

Certainly worth a call / mail.

Just because a stamp doesn't exist in a passport doesn't mean that it is not recorded in immigration's database.

I was stamped on a separate paper in North Korea, and I understand the Cubans will do the same thing for Americans who don't want to be hassled back home as well.

Definitely not a daft question.
