Thai Men + Farang Women

Hello all,

New in Thailand (but not new in SE Asia) I have noticed that like everywhere in the SEA region, Farangs men get alot of opportunities to meet local women, but less the contrary (farang women with thai men).

In Taiwan I was explained that Chinese boys tend to be over protected by their chinese mother and grow up to be quite chauvinistic ego-centered and selfish which is not really sought after by western girls.

Also the first son get to stay in the family house and its spouse should look after his ageing super bully mother, which often makes the western wife run away.

And last, Chinese are reluctant to have their family blood mixed with foreign ones. If they did not mind so much their daughter marrying a western man since, in their mind, she would "belong" to her husband's family, having their son's genes mixed with western ones would definately spoil the family line.

What about here ? Why do we see so many farangs men with thai girls and so few farangs females with thai men?

You might have more success with replies in the woman's forum. At least 3 female moderators are married to Thai men. I see MANY very handsom Thai men walking around, but they all have Thai girlfriends. It helps to speak the language and go places where young couples are likely to meet. There isn't much opportunity in the Thai bar scene. Most of the farang women I've met in Thailand hook up with other back packers of their same nationality.

I'll also hazard a guess and suggest that its simply because there are far more western males here than western females.

The Thai fellow hardly parades his latest 'bit of stuff' up and down the street.

He is far more likely to be of a higher (economic) standing and hence his western partner is far more likely to be out of the pubic eye (i.e. in a car rather than walking the streets with him etc).

Just a couple of questionable points to get the ball rolling.....

I have seen quite a few Farang women with Thai men but mostly in BKK. You have to bare in mind there are a lot more Farang men in Thailand than women, and a lot of the time, if women come they come with their partner. Men also come here in order to look for women where as women don't tend to so much.

Demographics. The single women tend to be younger and present in fewer numbers than males. I'm sure Thai males are like males anywhere else and wouldn't turn down an opportunity to fornicate with a 1/2 decent looking woman. However, those decent guys just don't hang out in tourist areas renting out jet skis etc. The young women really aren't interested in having an LTR with a jetski boy. A chance to engage in sexual gymnastics yes, but not an LTR. The girls are obviously smarter than the old guys that take up the the hookers errr hostesses.

Haha, yes, that...but the females that want to go with bar-boys seem to be flocking to West-Africa...and there are really not that many boy-bars here - apart from the gay kind. So it kinda rules out the women that are of the same caliber as the men...and doesn't mean that women in general are smarter.

If "we" (farang women) are less numerous we should be overcrowded by demands and this is not my case or any of the case of my ex-collegues in SEA.

I remember one canadian guy (not ryan gosling type and two words of chinese to his vocab) who showed me his phone and said it was rubbish cause it could 'only' hold 250 names and it was full of girls, while my ex-collegue a female australian teacher (far from ugly) who spoke perfect chinese had spent 5 years without any male contact.

I think you might be right here, asian men tend to be less enclined and / or encouraged to talk to foreigners than women. In fact when I ask for direction in the street I notice that girls have always better english and are more willing to help than boys, except gay men who generally like to speak English. I think they just don't see the point of talking to farangs, they are just not interested

I think you will find that the reason for less relationships between western women & thai men are 1) less women are around 2) most women don't seem to get he same kind of "yellow fever" many western men do the moment they get off a plane & become desperate for a gf of any description 3) they come with a western spouse/bf & don't cheat 4) they aren't attracted to asian men 5) are here for work & not interested in forming a realtionship with anyone

There are likely plenty of other reasons but these are off the top of my head.

Having lived in Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, I have observed that single western women are in "high demand" by both local and western men. In Japan, especially, if a local man can get a gaijing girlfriend or wife, he is considered to be quite the success.

The issue is that excepting for the small percentage who go for the beach boy type, more western women do not seem to be motivated by the same degree of desire for short sexual interludes as western men seem to be. Given the paucity of western women versus western men in Thailand, of course the numbers of real relationships for western men and women with local partners will be skewed, but I would hazard that perhaps a higher percentage of single relationship-minded western women find Thai partners than western men. Well, if not a higher percentage, then at least an equal percentage.

As one poster already pointed out, western women, especially European women, who are looking for a fling, seem to gravitate now to Africa to get their itch scratched.

I guess this kind of answers the question a lot. Opinionated western women are not all that. I guess that is why a lot of Foreign men rather Thai girls. And why Thai guys seem to avoid long term relationships with western girls to a degree.

is having an opinion, opinionated in your view then? clearly you have no thai language skills or have spent a great deal of time with thai women if you think they aren't opinionated or have opinions. As for my "opinion" being biased, of course it is, it's my opinion based on knowing multiples of women in Thailand, with or without thai partners. and for the record i've been with my thai husband for 10 years already & he has no fear of women nor feels the need to insult women to get his rocks off

I remember the first time I went to samui, renting a small room in a soi off the main road in lamai, all my neighbours were ladybar workers & the large proportion of lesbians working in the industry who came home after their business (!) to their girlfriend was a real eye opener to me. Opinions are fine, I think that everyone has them. However some opinions are not always right. There are many examples of this in the world.

I was in a relationship with a Thai lady for four years and lived in Thailand for seven years. Was single for the last 3 years of my stay there. Not as you say DESPERATE for a Thai girlfriend of any description!!

I know a lot of women in Thailand both foreign and Thai. ALL women, both Thai and Farang don't share these biases towards ALL foreign men. If they did I guess they would not be my good friends.

still trying to figure what part of my post got your knickers in a twist... Was it that I posted a view that many men come to Thailand specifically to get a gf/women? That is quite true & in a way proven by your snide comment about western women as a reply to my post. But if you don't believe this view to be true then comment on it civilly & in an adult manner instead of being rude.
