Quick Divorce

Featured Replies

For my followers on TVF, a quick update. I have been refusing to pay money to my Thai wife to sign divorce papers. We live apart. Married in July 2010 thrown out in August 2010 and now divorced January 2011. Today I get called downstairs at the apartment and see 2 cops, I wonder what have I done now, beside them is I call her the ex wife. The cops tell me to get my papers and passport and we will go to the Amphur/City Hall and sign the divorce papers, they are the Tourist Police, and of course they want to take some photos.

Off we go to the Amphur, see the same lady who married us 6 months ago, we sign divorce papers, more photos for the cops, wait about 40 minutes, it is lunch time and we are divorced. She did not speak a word to me the whole time. The 2 cops offered to drive me home, I told them that I had been waiting a long time for her to sign the papers and they told me she went into their offices this morning. So by refusing to pay her ridiculous amounts depending on the day of the week from 100,000 down to 30,000 Bhat to sign the papers, I told her repeatedly that she would ge nothing, she eventually came around. Since the cops missed lunch I gave them 100 Bhat for lunch and told them that they had done a good job, efficient and fast. Who would have thought?
