Lobin
Whether TIG MIG Shielded or the like would be interested in knowing what setup you are using.

WatersEdge
I lived in Chiang Mai for nearly six years, recently moving close to my farm in Mae Sot. In a BioDiesel company that I worked for as Mechanical and Welding Engineer about 4 years ago we had a brand new wire feed machine . Don't recall the brand, but it was manufactured in Thailand, cost B60,000, 3 phase 240V We used standard .035 wire. I think .045 would also have been available. It was roughly equivalent of a Miller back home. Have no way to recommend its long term durability, as we had used it only a short time when I left the company. We ran on CO2 Ar may have been available, but none of our work required deep weld cross section, so the additional cost would not have been justified. Thickest material we welded was 1/4 inch Don't know the situation with flux core wire here. If it's worth pursuing beyond this information, I'll be happy to stir the memory of my friend who was the Managing Director of the Diesel company and who paid all the bills. If you are looking for someone to drive a production shop, I'm always looking for more to do I have a load of potential Burma employees here in Mae Sot. Rented shop buildings are relatively cheap here. Power supply is reliable, although 3 phase may be a bit expensive on installation. Since the advantage of MIG is application rate 3X that of stick slag free bead of nicer appearance I'd ask first if MIG is necessary for the intended job. These guys do pretty good work with 6013 plain rod. With cheap labor the application rate doesn't matter as much. Just hire more rod burners. The TIG work that I've seen from a distance is at the stainless steel gate and fence rail shops. Their work seems to be functional but lacking in bead detail finesse. I have no experience in TIG, lots of time with MIG and Stick.
jackr
Can get yourself a half-decent Welpro arc/Tig combo for 20k ish. The inverter type are the dogs doodas - light weight and smooth, although not so great on duty cycle.
