I have our Thai marriage certificate here in the UK (my wife is on ILE visa) but we will need an English copy of it for various reasons (education applications, NI interview, bank etc.). Can anyone recommend how to get an acceptable translation of the certificate (e.g, any translation agency, Thai embassy, or possibly UK government stamp/approval), and how much it might cost?

Do you need a translation of a Thai Birth Cert?

I think not, though it would be helpful and good idea to have if you had done so in Thialand when you had other documents translated for visa application.

the following thread is only a few days old:

and post #4 by Steve says:

My wife never took a Thai birth certificate to the uk, used passport if required. she worked, had NI number, british driving licence etc.

Some posters may say that they have had an official certification of translations placed by the MFA in Bangkok (I assume that the Thai embassy in London provide a similar service). However, we didn't do this, and whenever we have needed a translation of our certificate the stamp placed by the translation bureau has always sufficed.

I would take up TVE's offer, were I you. Getting a translation done in the UK will be expensive.

Basil, the OP is asking about his marriage certificate, not a birth certificate. We have needed ours on occassion.

I'd like to say a big thanks to Paul at Thai Visa Express for his excellent communication and service regarding the above: emailed scan of marriage doc, translation done, stamped, scanned and emailed back the next day. No doubt the service is just as good if in Thailand and using a courier for the documents.

First time I've used them and it would be my first call if I needed anything else done. Well done and highly recommended.
