Who the heck is the western guy on Tan network trying to talk thai Politics with 3 thai's who obviously don't like him and putting up with him and quite frankly bored(tales from the big city).

Love it when he laughs at his own jokes camera pans out and the 3 thai girls not even smiling ha...akward.

I have an overwhelming urge to give him a slap around the head if I ever run into him.

He a cute fellow ain't he. But at least those 3 Thai ladies are fluent in English and you get to see them on other shows. For me, I watch TAN News quite a bit especially the 7-8:30am Monday-Friday news show where that Thai guy and Thai girl (both fluent in English) take about a variety of local news stories from the Thai language newspapers, Bangkok Post, etc. I catch the TAN evening news shows as much as possible also.

For farangs out there, TAN broadcasts in English 24/7 and is on TrueVisions Ch 78 and NSS6 KU-band. Good for news/issues related to Thailand...and it's in English.

I agree that the TAN Network is a great addition to the True Visions package. At last I can understand a bit more about what's happening here without relying on random postings with prejudiced replies from people with little knowledge in Thai Visa.com [TV is great but its not (meant to be) a reliable news source]. TAN has had some interesting current affairs debates with Thais who clearly know a bit about what's happening and who speak good English - usually two sides represented as well. After being brainwashed by TV posters into thinking all Thais are brain dead and suffering soaps, Hay Ha and newscasts that depend on body counts and royal diaries its refreshing to see Thais with intellect.

The self-regarding farang katoey with the bun is called Sing Toh and jeez yes isn't she excruciating? Teelak - so amateur. Please do give up your day job.

Thanks for that heads up. I've been looking for an English channel to watch for Thai news. I know there use to be a 30 minute English news broadcast from one of the regular Thai TV channels. I've searched a bit, but can't find it. So this will be great! Especially as I can record it at watch it at a more "decent" hour! :)

It has straight News broadcasts throughout the day in English also. Its schedule does not appear on the True Visions on-line programme pages and I have not had the time to sit with it on in the background for a day to plot its schedule, but they are called 'Focus Thailand' starts at 4pm. I miss not having Aljazeera on the True Visions package though for a non anglo-Saxon view of the world news.

Edit: Idiot - I just noticed Pib posted their web-site, which has the schedule on it; thanks

Thanks to negreanu for the heads up about the weekday morning news magazine programme. When you live in a village that's just about mid-morning coffee time!

3365 -- Thai-PBS has 'happy talk' English language news at about 7:40 AM weekday mornings ... mostly reviewing the Thai-language newspaper headlines.

Cool. I will check that out also.

And yes, the schedule does seem to be on their website, but with times listed on both sides, it's a bit confusing! But I will check it out for sure. Get tired of BBC/CNN reruns...

ooo I'd kill for CNN. They offer Fox on our programming feed and I can't stand them, especially the morning show. I have caught the TAN shows mentioned and they are a refreshing change. Except I can't recall seeing the foreigner with a hair piece :( The DW news is a welcome respite too. (That's Deutsche Welle for you unwashed types ;) ) And yes the repeat BBC news bits are tiresome.
