At the moment I'm on a non immigrant 0 visa which I either have to get out of the country do border run what ever on monday the 24th.I plan on returning to Australia for a brief period with my Thai wife who at the moment is waiting to hear from the Australian embassy on a tourist visa for her was supposed to be confirmed on the 19th .My question is can I instead of doing a boarder run then maybe flying out of the country a couple of days or a week later , get a extention of 2 weeks or whatever from immigration even though my non immigrant 0 dosnt run out till April.A boarder run would be a pain in the ass because I'm all ready in Bangkok. How bad is an overstay of up to a week whats the penalty and would it affect the rest of my time on the non immigrant 0

The most you could expect would be 7 days and you would need a flight out of Thailand within those 7 days.

EDIT.

They might give you 60 days for the reason of staying with your Wife.

You will have to ask them. As you have a Visa they may not.

A border run from Bangkok is done in half a day and costs 2,000 baht all inclusive so don't see the problem. There are scheduled trips every day using vans and bus.
