I have a bus ticket for tonight. If I can make it into Laos, I can make new pages there at the US embassy, but not even sure if they'll let me in. The last page is an amendment page and back of it is some list of things to remember or something like that.Think I'll get in or not?

There should not be visa stamps placed on such a page.

I understand what should be. But does Laos give a crap I guess is my question.

Lao's may not give a crap...but your embassy might when you turn up to put new pages in....:whistling:

Nobody can answer what an immigration officer might do. We can only tell what he should do, and that is refuse you entry because your passport is full.

As a side issue it is not that much more expensive to get a new passport than add pages.

Approximately 82 USD for pages or 110 USD for new passport. I'll take the new passport.

Or maybe immigration officers should of stamped my passport properly and I'd have 3 blank pages left in my book. Haha.

Regardless, I'm putting new pages tomorrow. Not enough time to wash it. The $110 is a bargain compared to a ridiculous $84 for new pages, but I really don't feel like making police reports and not enough time before the current visa runs out to go through the rigmarole.

What do they do about 'legal status' in Thailand while waiting for the new passport regarding visa dates? Do you have to pay 500 baht a day while waiting for the new passport to come or??

If you schedule an appointment online (I believe it may be required) with the Consulate in Chang Mai and your on time you can get pages added while you wait 30 minutes. There are also days which you can't get the service done. Visit the web site. I don't know if they even have walk in service anymore.

A new passport requires an appointment to apply with pictures etc and a return appointment to be made when you get an email telling you it is ready to pick up (three to six weeks).

Then a trip to the proper immigration point for you which may not even be in Chang Mai to transfer entries from old passport. So it depends on how far the embassy or consulate office is and your immigration office you report to.

Adding pages can be a lot cheaper in many cases.

.

You will use your old passport with a valid visa while you are waiting for the new passport - which you requested 2 months before it ran out of pages or time - :jap:

Normally you would obtain a new passport in time to avoid such problems. But if you are on overstay you would be required to pay fine the same as anyone else in that position.

Thanks for your reply. What I meant was if my passport had been stolen... Then we still would be subject to the fines... Is that correct? Thanks much.

If you overstay you would. Normally an Embassy can immediately issue travel documents to allow exit to home country or limited validity without any wait for a new passport for those travelers in such a position so there is no need for normal week or more wait for issue of full passport.
