2 Nigerian men arrested for allegedly selling 13kgs of cocaine

Two Nigerian have been arrested in Bangkok after police found 13 kilogramms of cocaine with one of them.

Initiaally police arrested Nigerian national Chika Cletus Onwukwe, 30, in Sai Mai district after police found 13kgs of cocaine in his Toyota Yaris car at the mount of Soi Phaholyothin 58.

He arrested in a sting operation.

Onwukwe then offered to pay to police Bt300,000 in cash to police in exchange for his release and promised the officers another Bt300,000 in cash they could pick up from his friend Akudo Gilbert Ndigwe, 51, at a nearby gas station.

So police went along and arrested Ndigwe as well. The two were charged of having cocaine in possession with intention to sell and bribing police officers.

Good to see that not all Thai Police will take a bribe, well done.

13 kilos? 600k is an insult bribe.

This is simply more bargaining leverage. a month in the Hilton and the drugs in a police locker and that number will be greatly increased.

Agreed... Soon or later, the cut will be done... B)

Edict to be put into effect shortly " Thailand to be named HUB of Nigerian coke dealers " all others will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law , there will be no exceptions .

" I bringg ya tuu mai fliend he wanna bay samm coke. Ya cumm withh me an tak da cashh?":jap:

Guess everybody knows that these guys are selling cocaine for such a long time. Is it possible that they paid the wrong cop, or forgot to mention that they had some other business going on?

I'm neither racist, nor against drugs, but Thais punish us for less than 13 kg of cocaine.....

som nam na

I'd worked with a Nigerian "lady" who became a school teacher here. She's always saying when she made her way to lunch: "I go eat myself." Problem was that she must have had 200 kg, way too much to do it.

She was, or still is, involved with the same guys, or she might know them. They've got cars, houses, condos and the cops too. Why? Lol :jap:

these fools should know not to try and circumvent the established cartel pipeline.

next step if the thai police were on the ball would be check out all the nigerian ( or look alikes) hanging about near the "entertainment" areas

The police probably took the deal of 300K, got to the gas station pocketed 300K and then arrest the two anyway. Do you really think that the Thai police would listen to drug dealers that their own people in the same force took money and yet arrested them??

The drugs are then re-sold by the police on the streets. Actually 20kg was confiscated but 13 made it to Narcotics division if any.

So you actually know all this is factual, do you?

On the other thought... Was it 600K offered or was it what police said it was offered? :whistling:

Legitimately interesting angle, from a couple of angles. Apologies to the police if they were completely on the up and up, but the cynic in me can't help but note the genius in broadcasting amounts offered as bribes (regardless of whether or not the offers actually were made, or whether or not the reported amounts are accurate). It would certainly help with some tricky negotiations in the future perhaps? whistling.gif

What possible reason could there be for publishing the offered amounts, if not this one? I'm coming up with blanks....?

2 caught, 20 slipped through. That's the way they set it up.

Same old story. Gotta generate some stats, can't have no big seizures what with the drug scourge having overwhelmed the world some time back.

I think these fine officers should be rewarded for their investigative skills, and immediately assigned to a prestigious and challenging investigation which has stumped the Royal Thai Police forces for some time now - illegal prostitution.

Look, they might not be able to setup an equally effective sting, but it's worth a shot right? I might even be able to help them, I have a 'lead' or two in Ratchada. There are some monumental hotels there which wouldn't let me book accommodation. Maybe they were just booked out completely, maybe they didn't like the cut of my jib, but there were a lot of pretty girls around and a veritable flood of men milling about.

Good luck to our brave Boys in Blue!

Sounds more like a Tip off to me, since the Cops did not accept the Bribe, so I guess it was known that the 2.Negros Move that Gear on this day...

But for sure it s not like you say, don t forget they did not cross a Border but got caught in the Act, so it would be complete Idiotic to tip off 1. Guy with 13.K Coke

and a view others reach their Destination....

Different story if it s about Trafficing.

The Cops all ready must have a Black Snitch!!

They caught a couple of Nigerians the last view weeks

I would bet one of them is it...

I cannot speak for Tokay, of course, but I suspect you missed his point.

  • 1 year later...

Of course not, for example:

Thai police arrest 20th Iranian in drug smuggling case at Bangkok airport this year

12th April 2011

BANGKOK — Thai police say a man arrested while trying to move crystal methamphetamine through Bangkok’s international airport is at least the 20th Iranian caught smuggling drugs this year. Police Col. Pornchai Charoenwong of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau said Monday the seizure of 6.8 kilograms (15 pounds) of the drug was the largest haul at the airport this year. He said 27-year-old Mehdi Nikzad admitted after his Saturday arrest at Suvarnabhumi Airport on arrival from Abu Dhabi that he was hired by fellow Iranians to smuggle the drug to Malaysia. Pornchai said the seized drugs were valued at 20 million baht ($655,000). Drug smuggling carries a possible death sentence in Thailand, but the penalty is infrequently applied.
