Visa Extension Question

Some friends of mine are visiting on a 30 day visa and were wondering, since their 30 days runs out on Xmas day, if a person extended their visa early, say the 22nd, does the extension start from the day the original visa runs out or from the date of the extension. My personal opinion is it starts from the date of the extension but would like some verification on that! Can't imagine immigration here would make it so simple!

It starts from the day of the extension, in this case 10 days extension. Fee 1,900 Baht.

I believe Immigartion are open on Dec 24, not sure, check with them.

thanks george, I thought so, will let them know they will have to overcome their hangover and get over to samui.

The Immigration might even be open on Christmas Day, December 25. It's not a public holiday in Thailand, as far I can understand.

Actually George, the problem is not so much going to Immigration but getting up in the morning and getting the boat to Samui. Basically it takes a day. Alternatively, I found out on my trip to Samui Immigration yesterday that they will be doing visa extensions in Koh Phangan at the tourist police booth on the first wed and 3rd wed of every month. Apparently I can do my 90 day check in at that time as well, but not the one year visa. Oh well, thats ok, I can do my shopping when I go.
