Slit Trenches

Featured Replies

My wife has just told me that the local kamnam has advised all residences in our village to did foxholes or slit trenches next to our houses in case the Cambodian artillery should start shelling. Our village is within heavy artillery range. I live in Southern Buriram so it is quite a way from where the present fighting is taking place. I am wondering if I should consider complying. Maybe I'll wait to see how things progress.

You could be in Kap Choneg south of Surin next to the Chong Chom boarders crossing. The women and children have been ordered evacuated this evening and that's 160km from the big dispute. Advice keep your head down and arse up.

Foxholes? Slit trenches? Are you serious?

It'll be Anderson shelters next.

Yes, the situation is clearly tense, but I don't think either side wants to escalate hostilities. A nice attention-grabbing little spat with not too many people hurt is just the ticket. Villagers taking flight... probably not necessary, but it all adds to the local colour. What would I do... I'll be honest...RUN.

I'm quite serious. Further instructions over the local loudspeaker system this evening Puaiban advising that residents should pack a suitcase and be ready to leave at short notice. Personally I think its an overreaction.

Thairath reports that the Chong Chom boarders crossing is open but.....

A friend called Chong Chom and Aranyapatet.

Chong Chom is closed and Aranyapatet is open (they still have to get to the casinos !)

My in laws in Kap Choeng have pack their bags as requested by the local authority and are waiting to be evacuated to Prasat if things go tits up. They have tanks approximately 2 Km from their house.
