Dog And Cat

Featured Replies

We have five cats and young 10 months old Alsatian dog Jack. Now the dog decided that he hates one of the cats - the oldest one. The poor cat now lives in the roof space and does not come down. I have tried many things to make them friends, but nothing works. I believe that Jack would kill her if he had a chance. She is a lovely cat, very friendly, not aggressive at all. Any suggestion what to do about the situation?

I suspect the dog sees the cat as a rival for top position and thats where the aggression is coming from. Not an animal behavioralist, I am afraid, you might try considering contacting neinke for advice. But when I had these issues between two dogs I made sure to feed the top dog first, pay attention to the top dog first and reinforce the top dog's position, the aggression issues died down after awhile, but with a cat, its tough because the dog probably would kill her if he got the chance.
