Bicycles In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Todays BP has a poll which is as follows.............If Bangkok became a more bicycle free city. Would you consider using a bike ?

The way i see it. First , for safety sake, they would have to build a bike way ! Then i should imagine, it will be immediately flooded with Motorbike Taxis and Tuk Tuks................anybody disagree.

There is mostly no space for walking - how would there be space for cycling?

how about removing/banning/forbidding minivan drivers. Thi

nk of the space created and the number of lives saved.

If a country like China can do it - why not Thailand ?

And they dont need to " build " anything ! Just paint a few lines

on the roads and designate them as bike lanes !

Anyway if the price of crude keeps climbing we may have a few more

( reluctant ) enthusiasts

'a more bicycle free city' as in OP.

Wouldn't that mean even less bicycles :whistling:

Paint a few lines? That would be as decorative as all the zebra crossings in BKK :D

Thailand is made for cars and motorbikes. Period.

No walking possible, and no cycling. Even in a small Soi you cannot walk. The side areas are fully parked and the one-lane in the middle is used by drivers who race full speed 50km/h.

I think you mean BKK not Thailand ?

Here in Chiang Mai very many locals and tourists happily ride bicycles :) That includes areas around the city with

bike lanes ( i.e.painted lines )and motorists do respect them :whistling:

Now I remember why i left BKK :D

Try " a more bicycle friendly city"

Oh the sensible people of Holland. That has to be the model country for cycling.
