Absolute Best Small Hotels In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Dear fellow travelers,

In an attempt to keep to the spirit of this forum, I have started compiling a list of what I deem to be the best small hotels in Thailand, I started with one for Bangkok and now I have posted one for Chiang Mai. These destinations are less known, off the beaten track and therefore an absolute must for those of us who prefer personal service and charming settings to 5 star grandeur. I welcome any addition to the list, once I receive your recommendations I will post them and hopefully bring more attention to these lesser known gems. (will follow with a phuket and samui list soon)

Here is the one for Bangkok:

These are the recommendations for CHIANG MAI

1. Tri yaan na ros

number of rooms: 8

2. baan orapin

number of rooms: 6

http://www.baanorapin.com

3. lisu lodge

number of rooms: na

Thanks for those links.

I hate big hotels. Baan Orapin is just how I like it.

Keep them coming

3 posts in total and every post is regarding a hotel are these his hotels.

I know one of the hotels owners mentioned and it is definately NOT him.

They all appear good alternative quality accommodation and related information with no obvious company connections so see no problem at the mo. :o

Thanks,

Just what I was looking for and could not find.

Hi thaiexpat1,

My house in Chiangrai, is open to guests who are keen to experience first hand the village home stay with a thai family for cross cultural and home cooked food. In fact, I currently have a website at www.homestaytravelchiangrai.com. Please feel free to visit my website and to include into your recommendations.

Would appreciate the effort you have taken, though.

Regards,

Eric.
