:( One would be hard pressed to begin your day on a finer note, than drop into a well known Italian deli on the ring road, where the husband and wife team rarely break into a smile and I know that even Big Joe (R.I.P.) was terrified of the wife. Yesterday morning I brought a number of guests to buy some imported hams and cheeses and they were struggling to describe how much they wanted, when the owner glared at me and asked "Where are these people from ?" When I answered "Russia", he began to shout how "these people should be kept within their borders and forbidden to travel" resulting in some upset ladies. Those of us who know him tried to explain that ''he was only starting and just warming up for the day"

Luckily his team is now first in Italy, otherwise...

I'd say if it were not for the Russian tourists visiting Samui / Thailand now, things would be pretty quiet ... judging by the accents there are a lot of them here right now... I have two sets of Russians living near me (longer term) & they fitting in well to our "small community" ....

The Deli should be pleased to welcome all that come to buy, sounds a bit like the Chinese Supermarket in Nanton, who never smile or acknowledge your presence ... I don't go there any more :annoyed:

i used to shop there, as well and his wife was so so rude we stopped going there.

She was even rude to my thai wife, who doesn,t say a bad word to anyone.

He was ok with me

Maybe send some Russians in there that I've heard of and see how long the owners remain rude after that!!!

All that wise old carmine has to say is that if they are so rude, and yet still in business, then their food must be very, very good. ;)
