There are so many questions I want to ask I've started this sub group. Here are just some;

The best environment for popular plant groups?

How to Identify plants and their environmental needs. For instance can you tell from their shape and leaves whether they like sunshine or shade, wet or dry.

How to create different plant environments within a garden's design?

The use of hard landscaping, themes, garden furniture, Coherent design of dominate features like Salas etc. Is it necessary to keep all roof materials the same?

There are so many questions I want to ask about gardening in thailand I've started this subtopic.

Here are just some;

Practical irrigation systems, discussing how much, how often and the size of pumps, pipe size and length of runs within the system. Filter or no filter (I pump water direct from the river, unfiltered, and hence have to select sprinklers with large jets. Small jets and drip feed would soon get blocked with silt etc.

Construction of lakes.

How new lakes effect existing trees and shrubs etc.

Maintaing the banks during the wet season and containing water loss though seepage and evaporation during the dry.

Effective drainage during the wet season and how to plant these difficult areas . Its no point planting Bonneville where it will be flooded during half the year. When the rice field along side our garden is flooded the seepage creates a pond in the grass and of course its a nasty smelly mess by the end of the wet.

Construction of Ponds and waterfalls. Running costs and the size and control of pumps. For example you could have a proximity switch with a duration timer so the pump would start when people where near but if you where to go away for a week or two how often would the water need to be circulated in order to refresh the smaller pools etc.

The exchange of plants

I would like to bud roses with a strong sent. Do any of you in the Chiangmai area have sented one I could take cuttings from?

That is alot of questions! You are located in Chiang Mai so can grow a wider variety of plants than I can down South but the heat up there is way more intense than it is here and the rainfall quite a bit less so some of the really tropical plants won't grow.

I've always wanted to grow a Vireya, tropical rhododendron but don't think I'd get any flowers as we don't have a cool period at all.

I would recommend getting out to Asia books or a good bookstore and buying some of the plants in Thailand books, I have several that I use as references. One on trees thats quite extensive and one by William Warren that is good for information too http://www.amazon.com/Tropical-Garden-Plants-Thailand-William/dp/B001R5DZAO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1299326601&sr=8-3
