Problems With True And Air Card

Recommended Posts

I signed up for True Move and they didn't have any air cards left but the woman ran to the DTAC counter and checked if theirs would work. She said it did since it supported 850 mega hertz. The air card can use any sim card.

I bought it and I am having problems. I keep getting the message "...... problems connecting to the PPP server."

Tried contacting True but it is a nightmare.

Anyone have any ideas for a fix?

Thanks

What is the exact make and model of the aircard?

Did you get a SIM from True?

What type of SIM? (marketing, package or promotional name on packaging)

Did you top it up?

Did you subscribe to a data plan?

(You can put the SIM in a phone, the enter #123# SEND; if you have a data plan you can send an SMS to 9789, with the letter "B" in the body (no quotes, for Balance), and you should get several return SMSes with any details of your data plan.)

Was there some sort of installation program?

What OS do you have? If Windows, can you see the adapter in Device Manager?

Some DTAC aircards support 850 Mhz 3G, like the E1553, some do not, like the Wave 153. All support 850 Mhz GSM (for 2G: EDGE/GPRS) just to make sure people don't get confused).

Yes, I purchased the card from True.

We signed up for monthly plan to pay by post. It's unlimited internet and I forget the number of hours for cell phone use (I think it's 10 per month)

The sim card was sold in a True Move package.

The installation program from D-Link guided me through the steps.

I have Mac OS, powerbook OS version 10.6.6

DWM-156 HSUPA 3.75G USB adapter, Tri-Band (2100/1900/850 Mhz)

FWIW that is a great aircard, IME. It would also work with TOT 3G (2100 Mhz).

Any chance you could answer the remaining questions?

Did you add value to the SIM? If so, how much? When?

Which plan, exactly, did yuo subscribe to? Name, price, data usage limits?

Unless you have added money to the SIM, in excess of your first month's plan cost (add 7% for VAT), phone calls and SMSes may come off separately, you would obviously not be able to access the network.

My best guess, given the lack of details, is that you have successfully installed the aircard, but have not successfuly subscribed to a data plan. Again, just a guess.

Maybe pop the SIM in a phone and check the plan, balance?
