Featured Replies

In the last 7 days 3 times no electric in Bangrak.Does anybody know why ?

it's hit us quite a bit lately at our offices. at least twice they were planned events.

Last Tuesday we had one power cut at 7.30 am for an hour and another at 4.30 pm for an hour. Were these the planned ones? Will they happen again? (I guess that we will know tomorrow!)

It happens all over the island on a regular, though getting better lately, basis. Get used to it or get ;) a generator They are though improving the infrastructure around the island and hopefully this will reduce the down time. There was an article in the Gazette that warned of rolling power cuts due to the lack of capacity. :o

all i know is that the "planned" events lasted several hours through the early afternoon and each time when my staff called the electric dept., the answer given was "yes, we know. electric back on at 6pm. "

Has this anything to do we the rolling blackouts they were talking about before? The original proposal was for something like only 15 minutes at a time.

HERE.

i think they were swapping out electric poles and/or lines because our power was out for 3-4 hours each time.

I know with me they have been extending the electricity and the road along to the waterfall at the bottom of the mountain and we had none for a few days but they did have the decency to come up and tell us when it would be going off and how long they expected the work to last. Its when you don't know how long you are going to be without that it starts to niggle :D

It appears that the electricity company are changing over head cables down the ghost road, the electric was due to be off last night (sunday) til 1am but

I guess the guys got a bit of a jog on and completed their task early,

during power outages remember the Premier Sports Bar have a generator, so no need to miss a match.

A whole hour?? :o

Its an outage!!

an outageous repost if ever I saw one!

Might only be an hour but it's pure inconvenience when you have just popped roast spuds in your oven. ended up pulling them out and

made mash spuds to go with the lamb.

outrageous to the max

They was from TOT on Ghost road today and they indiscriminately cut off any other cables which is in the way of theirs, well as mine from 3BB and i had to chase and find out with the 3BB guy to get back my line before everybody stop working. I didnt had internet for hours and when i show up with the 3BB guys they act like they did nothing wrong. Very bad experience....

This guys just unbeleiveable.............

Seems to me if I remember correctly, the new sub station in Maenam is opening next month, Therefore perhaps some lines have to get rewired, on Samui?

With warmer weather coming I sure that some areas will suffer from "Brown outs" as they do in western countries, when every one turns on the AC ... perhaps the substation will help there???.

I know some areas worse than others on the islands, but since November rains started, I don't think my power has been down more than 6 to 8 hours for the whole period... so I cannot complain at all... never does much good if I do anyway

When I did live on the north west side K P it was much worse though, with cuts..... some times had "half power" as the telly would work but nothing else, never did quite figure that out!

As far as I know BBB do not have their own dedicated ADSL lines and lease TOT lines. If TOT were working on their own lines then they didn't do anything wrong. Internet on Samui is very unreliable no matter who you get it from. If being without it stresses you out so much then your time here is not going to be a happy one :D

You could always get an air card for when the ADSL goes down if being connected always is important. ;)

Hilarious smokie, but it was three and a half hours on a Sunday night, which must be particularily difficult for families with babies or old people. Pathetic display by the electricity board or whatever they choose to call themselves. Surely even this lot are not stupid enough to have thought this a suitable time to cut the power, and if they did, for that long?

And if off again since 14.00 hrs. Defies belief on our boutique island :ermm::lol:

It would be very interesting if someone could find out what those imbeciles at the electricity dept are up to. As in, what the hell is going on?

I am pretty sure that no one really knows. Half the time the electricity board uses contractors. It's in line with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing I think!
