What Bird Is It?

Sorry for the low quality of the pic, heavily cropped and macro lens on the camera <_<

It looks like a Oriental Pratincole? Also known as the Grasshopper-Bird or Swallow-Plover.

It is indeed an Oriental Pratincole. In Isan, they breed on the dry rice-paddies starting about now, and disappear in June; I'm not sure where they spend the rest of the year.

Thanks for the fast ID!

Indeed I saw it today in a swamp (a big, dismissed, rice field) while taking pictures of dragonflies. Hope to get a better picture the next days ;)

Oriental Pratincoles with all the other Pratincoles went out with the Dodo's guys.

For your information this is in fact an hybrid offshoot of the Lesser South African One-legged(of the 2-legged variety) Spotted Trotting Duck (genus Chang) as I thought any self respecting ornithologist would know!

Not confident of the gender with that lens...

Forgive me please. Couped up with the flu and bored.sorry.gif
