Felix Lynn
On the next Thailand Today, The passing mention in a Bangkok English daily of 19 road deaths on just one day has Felix Lynn scratching his head and wondering: “Is death really that tolerable in the Land Of Smiles?” A study released Wednesday says sex crimes are on the increase in Thailand and only five percent of cases are ever reported. More ranting on the reactionary reaction to the tragic stabbing at an all girl school in Bangkok, All that plus email on the poverty packers and details of the a ban on a massage parlor in the shadow of a school yard, on the next Thailand Today, each weekday at five pm, midnight and five am. Koh_Chang_Farang
Check your stats - 19 deaths per day is well below average. In 2003, there were 13,116 road deaths reported to police. Only 19 should be cause for celebration rather than criticism and head scratching.

The_Moog
“Is death really that tolerable in the Land Of Smiles?” Almost getting into the realms of Buddhism and reincarnation. This piece could take the programme into a new dimension. I do wish they'd stop replaying that song with the lyrics 'i'm the DJ, have sex with me' or something like that. Subliminally it doesn't work, and if you saw me, you wouldn't want it to.
ovenman
The 19 were reported for Bangkok. Is that number of 13,116 Bangkok or nationwide? A quick Google reveals some sources that quote ~13,000 as the annual death toll for Thailand.
Felix Lynn
19 road deaths in one city in one day is alot. For it to be buried deep in a story that's about the wreckage of a storm is a gross mistake or a callous disregard for life. I'd say it's the most important part of the storm wreckage story. Felix Lynn
19 Road Deaths Go Unnoticed In Los I'd venture that at least 19 people noticed <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I want to laugh. In fact, I did, even though my laughing is rather crass, in light of the fact that 19 people did die. But that was funny.
