Pakistani militia to join Taliban 'if gov't doesn't want us'

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistan's anti-Taliban militia on Thursday said it would be forced to join the Taliban if the government does not support the group, local media reported.

"We are no longer capable of fighting them alone," Haji Dilawar Khan, who leads the Qaumi Amn Lashkar militia, told the Express Tribune just one day after suicide bombing at a funeral in Adezai that killed at least 37. "We need the government's help."

"Either the government accepts our demands within two days or they should let us join the Taliban," Khan stated, as the militia's volunteers have requested material and financial support.

Last week, Qaumi Amn Lashkar had previously stated that the government was not supporting the group's anti-Taliban struggle as it had promised ammunition and rations.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Bilour, who had previously stated that the government had no use of militias, pledged that the government would negotiate the matter with the lashkar soon.
