International Connections

I am with TOT in Pattaya. When I try to connect to some websites outside of Thailand, it times out. This is occurring on some. not all, sites. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent earthquake in Japan. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Similiar problem with TOT - half the sites hosted in US that I want to see arent available. The UK sites I usually look at are all OK though.

Can view all sites using my AIS GPRS connection OK, so it is a TOT problem rather than anything related to undersea cables.

I guess someone at TOT flipped a switch off before they went home last night and the problem will only be discovered around 9am on Monday morning.

Problems with TOT Internet connection this morning in Bangkok. Fixed the connection or it came back around 9:00 AM. TOT says they are having problems with their international traffic and they are working on it.

Same problem here in Pattaya can get through to some UK sites but not others, Also can confirm can get onto all the websites OK via Blackberry and AIS so must be TOT gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Hope TOT fix it soon

The traffic that use the undersea cable that way had been rerouted over the protection lines, if they were ordered from the customers. Am sure that TOT use CAT for the international gateway, but don't quote me on that one.

Just checked out TOT have an IG and it is routed to America via the oceans around Japan, so there MIGHT be a problem, the rerouted traffic would have to use Telecom Italia link or the Tinet Link to the UK via Singapore.

Have had connection issues all morning. Cannot get gmail at all. I can open Google at various places but gmail not connecting. All of my banking sites will not connect and other selected sites as well. I am located in Rayong area and use TOT. Seems all local traffic is working but trying to connect to many US sites is not possible at this time

CAT have a protection link to Wilshire in the US, so that might still be up and running at normal speeds.

Back to normal for me now. All sites working again on TOT ADSL.

Had the same issue this morning - of course with TOT you never know if it's related to the disaster in Japan or just their usual ####p.

It was very strange in that some web pages loaded, and others didn't - didn't seem to be a DNS issue, using Google DNS didn't help.

I then switched to company VPN (still over the same connection) and was able to reach everything through that.

CSLOXINFO here and I've been having slow connections off and on all day, including right now. Interestingly, when I connected to our VPN in Singapore, I get good throughput. I'm thinking that maybe it does have something to do with Japan, with CSLOXINFO routing their connections through there, but now when I route my connections through Singapore it's OK.
