11 unlicensed Pattaya bars shut by district licensing officials

PATTAYA: -- 11 pubs suspected of being unlicensed and operating outside of designated entertainment zones were raided by Banglamung District Licensing Officials on Friday Night. Each venue did not possess a valid trading license and were also open after the permitted time for venues outside of entertainment zones. The pubs were located around the Pattaya area from North to South Pattaya and during the raids, the owners and managers were detained and patrons were checked to ensure they were over the age of 20.

OMG you have to be licenced to sell alcohol? What will they come up with next?:whistling:

You didn't read the report . . . ? The next thing is that the patrons of said bars will need to apply for a licence to consume alcohol, with different "grades" of licence available depending on the amount you wish to consume.

For example, License TP1 would allow consumption (daily) of up to 1 (large) bottle of beer, whilst License TP5 would allow 5 x (large) bottles of beer to be consumed daily. The license fee will be approximately 1,500 baht for the TP1 license, whilst the TP5 license would be 7,500 baht. Note that these Licence are only valid for use on the day they are obtained and last for that 24 hour period only, so if you wish to drink from 10pm through to 2am, then you would need 2 x Licenses.

All funds obtained from said Licenses would be used for enforcement of the operating hours of each License and would necessitate you having an escort to each establishment you visit to ensure that you do not drink more than you have been Licensed for. You (as the License holder) are also responsible to ensure that the escort is also properly Licensed and hydrated throughout your drinking time.

What I cant understand is why when reporting the news they actually give very little information. Or is it a secret so we are not told of the location and name.
