I'm not sure if that is what you are referring to. It took a few doses and he very quickly went from raging to super-relaxed, almost comatose. For the remainder of the two weeks in hospital they spent time dosing him up with a couple of medications that require a gradual build-up in the system before they take effect. By all accounts before he became an addict he was a placid, lovely young man. Unfortunately it's easy to forget there is a person inside that needs help when he is raging and trying to harm others. It was probably something like Largactil (spelling might not be correct) jb1
tim armstrong
GHS and JB, The medicine initially used to calm him was probably Haliperidol, which is a major tranquilliser like Largactil and acts very quickly. But like other 'first generation' psych. medicines they both can have significant side effects. They are still used widely in developing countries because they are much cheaper than newer medications. Long term tranquillisers do have often have an umbrella effect and slow down most body systems, so that some patients need fairly constant support. Mental illness treatment has improved enormously in the past 30 years, but there is still a long way to go, before many people can lead normal lives. welsh1
Think the op done the right thing. If you are shopping in the local market where every one nows your name .think there will be enough locals who will step in and intervene ETC But if on the other hand you are out on the town its late at night been for a few beers then you could be in serious trouble. So then the thai will have 2 choices ..he can have good night or he can have all night its up to him...cant <deleted> about in this situation
