As our nationality does not affect our moderating ... Oh, really?

BTW 'Grow A Pair' has to be the most obnoxious over-used phrase on this Forum ... as in "I got'em; you obviously don't"

This thread is hilarious, but interesting read nonetheless

I can see why answering this might be a problem as if a US poster was saying something about the US and a UK mod/admin came in and refuted it. It might start a uncomfortable debate unless they can stay truly unbiased.

I was a global admin for a turbo diesel truck page in US. Albeit I am a die hard Chevrolet guy and have raced their product from off road racing and NHRA, I had to stay neutral about Ford, Dodge and stick to the content of the post. HOWEVER...My profile and garage had pics of my racing vehicles so it was public information for anyone wanting to research.

For the record, I'm an American and I'm much more critical of America than I am of other countries. This is primarily because I know more about American society and can speak intelligently of its many faults. I still believe in American ideals and believe that the USA is still a better place than most. I have no idea what European culture is about so don't try to question certain acts or behaviors, even if I find them odd. Which is why I find it so annoying that farangs in Thailand speak so critically of Thailand when they are largely clueless as to why Thais behave as they do in many instances.

Know how to say a few Thai words, like spicy food.??? please explain???

Yes I do know a 'few' Thai words :whistling:

And certainly enjoy spicy food.

But I don't think that's part of mod requirement :D

And yes jazzbo. Really :)

So how many are from where then? It would be interesting to see how many moderators were from each country - you don't have to name names just numbers...

You as a moderator maybe coul answer my question, or is it seecret? :)

Seems only fair that you let us know what nationality you are, or is it also a secret. Perhaps it will give us a better idea why the curiosity. ;)

I was curious about that myself given his last thread topic about shorts. Still no answer. Perhaps he is fron the state of confusion?

Think he mentioned British somewhere but this is a FORUM so who knows anything for certain?

Moderators, admin or members - forum rules apply to all of us. That means the respect to privacy issue also applies to us mods.

As our nationality does not affect our moderating, there is no transparency issue that would require moderators to reveal their identities.

Some have chosen to make known parts of their identity. That means they are comfortable with those details being made public. It's an individual choice but no obligation.

You can ask. You can speculate. I don't see the point but if that's your curiosity and the discussions/questions/ speculations remain within forum rules - ok. Any thing that attempts to invade on any members/mods privacy, and this thread is closed.

So please keep that in mind everyone.

Cheers

geeesh..stalag..javol mine ...??? Quite frankly Scarlet....

not sure why on a supposedly only Thai expat related site/forum we have so called jo blo mods or admins sitting in any other country...why ??...visited a few times, have a relative or good friend that is Thai, know how to say a few Thai words, like spicy food.??? please explain??? is this the norm..???

Maybe they have ties to Thai but reside somewhere else and living somewhere else can allow 24 hour moderation while others can sleep yes? Sensible? Many foreign residents of Thailand and other places are not 365 days a year but still have years of related experience, not so hard to figure really..

I think most are from USA

Thats why you can't post references such as Zeitgeist

Or any other US lyrics.

Big CIA FBI Blog :)

I don't think there's any problem with using the German word zeitgeist here. Although this is an English language forum, zeitgeist has been incorporated into English, and yes that includes American English. It's as (more so) an American a word now as schadenfreude and putz!

I think it's also OK to pepper your writing with pretentious foreign phrases to give your posts that certain je ne sais quoi.

Greetings from some American Putzes

Posting text like this, though, VERBOTEN!

The mods are here to enforce the forum rules which, in theory, require no knowledge at all about Thailand.

Post #35 And yes jazzbo. Really ... and Yes! Virginia -- there really is a Santa Claus ... I would give examples but then I would get vacation time for violating Forum Rules about discussion of (specific) moderations.

May this thread rest in peace. After his last troll thread, they are way too many people talking common sense here. Cultaral diversity was the last thing he wanted to hearbiggrin.gif

Is anyone else also at a loss as to why this, possibly the most banal topic so far this year, has lasted so long? Why on earth can anyone explain, on an internet forum why would anyone care where the mods are from?:unsure:

Honestly, I think Semper's topics are funny due to the simple fact this is what TV is all about...As most have said in hundreds, if not thousands, of posts it is a place for those high post people to talk to each other as internet friends. Sip some coffee. Toss out one liners, start a debate, take cheap shots at each other because IMO deep down inside they do not like most Thai things, most Thai people and want to complain about Thailand in general.

Carry on....laugh.gif

I don't agree with your comments that most do not like Thai things or Thai people. Most of us moved here because we love Thailand and it's people. Complain about Thailand in general? For sure...we see the potential...so complain. That's human nature.

Regarding the OP's "Shorts" post, how about he starts one like:

How many TV mods wear shorts?
