QUETTA, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least four people were killed and 18 other wounded in a rocket attack in the western region of Pakistan, officials said Thursday.

Capital City Police Officer Dawood Junejo told Pakistan's Express Tribune that three rockets were fired from a mountainous region and landed in different parts of Quetta, Pakistan, causing a series of explosions. One of the rockets hit the busy roundabout of Saryab Patakh, causing a number of casualties.

The rockets struck and exploded the busy area - which has five private hospitals and medical stores - within a lapse of two minutes. Among the four killed was a 14-year-old boy, and among the the 18 injured was a traffic police inspector.

With congested streets and traffic jams, the rocket attack also destroyed four vehicles, as residents panicked.

A residential house near Chaman Park was struck by the second rocket. The explosion damaged the roof, but no injuries were reported from the incident.

The third rocket was aimed at a house in Khaliqabad area, damaging the gate and a car parked inside the house were damaged.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility of the attack, although Baloch insurgents commonly carry out such attacks.
