The Lamong River in the Dawarblandong subdistrict of Mojokerto, East Java, submerged the villages of Talun, Banyulegi, and Pulorejo since early Thursday, but authorities said the flooding would naturally recede in the next two or three days, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported. The flood waters took the villages by surprise as they came earlier than expected, causing families to abandon their inundated houses and seek refuge in buildings and higher grounds.
