Thai Border Security - Or The Lack Thereof

Featured Replies

As soon as a farang is leaving a casino bus, some Cambodian guy will approach. They have some ID hanging round their neck. These guys often start by directing a tourist to some travel agency, claiming this was the border. And so on. Well, i called an old British gent near 80 who is staying the night in a casino. He told me paying 1,000 Baht to "a Thai Consulate" for leaving Thailand. <deleted>?

i watched these guys cross the border both ways, at will. no queuing, to checking, as if they were members of Thai Customs.

How can Thailand permit such security breaches and allow foreigners to commit scams on its tourists?

Just wondering.

You need US $ 20 for a Cambodian tourist VISA and a passport photograph. No currency? That will be 800 Baht. (The cigarette shop across from the new Immigration building does foreign exchange)

You are likely asked to add 100 Baht tee money to the $ 20.

When you approach the queue to get the entry form stamped, you might be accosted to pay a bribe for "5 minute service".

Thailand should clamp down on Cambodian crooks.

Does the Tourist Police have an English website? The airport website was "hacked" and some others are Thai only. Is this the best the Tourist Police can do?

Amazing Thailand!

I'm an American no way in hell will I comment on Border Security...

Have you ever flown into Swampyboom and seen the multitude of tourists being accosted and scammed by a host of touts ? Those are Thai touts not Cambodian , how about the taxi drivers etc , etc , and that is only the start to your visit to ' Amazing Thailand ' , land of scammers from the highest to the lowest . There are always two sides to every tale of woe .
