Been wasting time analyzing my firewall configuration. Thanks for the info. Anymore WinMX users here that cant get a connection? Edited September 21, 200520 yr by tywais
September 21, 200520 yr To avoid a potential RIAA lawsuit, file-sharing companies have the option of either implementing technology that is acceptable to the RIAA, or shutting down. Uh huh. So, record companies have never been able to devise a method of preventing people from copying and distributing music. But now they're trying to force third parties - who don't get a share of the profits - to devise a method of preventing people from copying and distributing music, or be shot down. But RIAA members will continue to distribute music on readily copied media (CDs etc), that's ok. I wonder what level technology they consider appropriate? Maybe we should ban FTP, that's definitely evil. Or just get rid of the web altogether? Perhaps they should sue hardware manufacturers as well, for producing devices capable of copying music? They'd be better off exploiting the technology as the biggest marketing opportunity the music industry has EVER had, instead of trying to protect an ill-deserved and much-abused monopoly. Losers!
September 21, 200520 yr All they can do even if their lawsuits work is push these operators offshore. Once they're off US territory it gets alot more difficult to harrass them. Ever find it funny how companies like Sony, who own several music companies manufacture mp3 players and have had "record" buttons on their cassette (and even 8 tracks way back) for decades? cv

September 22, 200520 yr hi' winmx is well known but cannot be protected by peerguardian2 as any torrent client or even kazaa ... soon, will happen to usenet, it's a question of time. give a try to "overnet", make a search, find it easy and peerguardian2 can handle it, and only 2 ports to setup for server, so easy to make rules for firewall but as cndvic said why bother when you can get what you want at the shop next door ... btw .. the last Bruce Springsteen "devils and dust" is great it deserved to be bought francois
