How annoying !

Edit: for some reason I can open everything normal when using my VPN account. What does this mean ??

I haven't had a problem with CAT here in Pattaya today, and by that I mean anything different to the normal problematic service this month.

When "everything works through VPN" it means there is either a DNS problem or a Routing problem with CAT. Try using GoogleDNS or OpenDNS (Google for details), if you're lucky that might fix your problem. If not you'd have to call CAT, though I doubt that would make any difference to how fast it gets fixed.

At least they have a 24 hour customer service line with people who speak reasonably good English. It's always worth a try to call them.

Last time I called them I was told I needed to get the firmware in my modem upgraded and that I should take it to the local CAT office. Rang the local office in Chiang Mai, they said yes we need the modem for 1/2 to 1 hour. So I took it in then had the manager spent 45 minutes telling me how I was wrong and that the people on the CAT help number don't know everything and there is no upgrade.

I was told the same, thing ! I also asked about maybe changing the modem for a later model and was told the one I had was THE best and many wished they could still get it but its been discontinued, some say because of a software issue, but I dont think its the equipment (modem) its the service that needs fixing. Yesterday (Sunday) was awful ! stopping and starting all day. I have also discovered with CAT that the strength of signal bares NO relation to speed. Whether you have one bar or 4 signal strength bars the actual speed doesnt change.

Never fails to amaze me that in this day and age, we have to resort to this kind of "wireless" service because we live more than 100 meters from a main road ! and as a result cant get a landline/cable connection.

OK, finished moaning now !:D

Oh, I have heard that so many times from TTT/3bb, it's always 'the modem' but usually it is just their crazy 'putting a lollipop in your mouth' nothing different from when asking for the road to a certain place and they point you in any direction except the right one just to not 'loose face' by saying 'sorry I don't know either sir'. Proper communication can be so hard for them !

Overall CAT is not too bad, I still like them and accept their flaws without feeling frustrated.

CAT here in map Ta Phut has been intermittent for around a month now.

I mean we intermittently get a service.

Before that it was about 1 week a month it would be down.

Edit: My ToT at home in Ban Chang and Pattaya has had no problems.

I'm running a DLink modem with 3BB with original firmware (2007) and it's fine. They use the firmware angle to mask poor service. Trying to upgrade firmware results in more problems than it solves.

Still slow to load pages , signal strength showing full :( . Some months earlier I had a problem and I drove to the CAT CDMA Tower nearest to my house and took along a laptop using my MC727 USB modem, I sat across the road from the tower and was still getting the same problem , while I sat there a CAT vehicle parked next to the tower and two guys got out and went inside the towers control room cabin, I took my laptop across and showed them the problem they then got out their laptop which had the same MC727 USB modem, they too got the same problem . One of the CAT engineers then accessed the CAT CDMA DeBug mode on his laptop . once the DeBug panel came on screen it had a lot of information , ive accessed the CAT DeBug mode on my laptop ( running Windows XP ) but I do not know how to interperate all the information, Has any one else used the CAT CDMA DeBug on screen option , and made sense of the information ?

Ive tried both the openDNS and the Google DNS , but it does not seem to help the current problem.
