Electric Cable Surface Conduit

Featured Replies

I'm about to do some upgrade work (no not me personally!), at my Phuket hotel. The guest bungalows are constructed of block ('it-bok'), and the cabling for power sockets and TV coax are currently channelled in plastic conduit that is afixed to the wall surface. That looks rather naff...

Is there an alternative method to run cabling on the wall so that it looks more professional? I do not want to embed the cabling in the wall since it will be impossible to 'hide' the resulting channel after it has been cemented/filled over.

I do have the option on some walls to route the cabling externally via conduit pipes and then come through the wall in the location where the power socket is required - but that is not an option on the party wall.

Thanks for advice

Simon

if your budget allows 'upgrade', try the Eubiq power track ! very sophistricated, very neat, very safe too. not much for the 'wallet' though.

they are available in Thailand. perhaps, it inspires you for some other similar concepts too !

Eubiq looks just the job! They also offer international adapters which is a good idea for a hotel. I've emailed them

Thanks!

I sent an email and they have speedily replied with details of their BKK distributor

fantastic ! fyi, the Thai distributor doesn't stock much. if you use Eubiq power track for business purpose, prepare enough spare stocks.

I am using it for last 2 years at home, quite impressive, but any breakage or additional order, need to wait a month of order from Singapore :-(

I'm going through a similar process, Simon - not for a hotel, but for living space. Pain in my ass.

I would not run any of the cables externally if I were you, I think there are better ways to run it on the interior.

My current loft-style renovation is coming out rather ''sterile," so I'm having a huge headache trying to figure out how I want things. But it's an option, at least - for you to run some stainless-style conduits (don't electrocute yourself...):

I'm actually thinking about scrapping the current project in favor of the good old drop ceiling and wall panels (which solves a lot of hidden wiring problems):

BTW I checked out the stuff on offer from the company mentioned in the thread, but to me it looks more of a fit for an office rather than a living space. Just my opinion, though.

Either way good luck and post what you decide to do in the end - I could use some ideas, as I'm sure others may as well.

edit: jeez those pictures came out huge, I'm sorry - just look at the thumbnails!

Could you hide horizontal runs under skirting board? At least then you could channel verticals in the corners.
