News_Editor Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Fire at east China apartment building kills 7 2011-04-12 10:15:08 GMT+7 (ICT) WENZHOU, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- At least 7 people were killed on late Monday evening when a fire broke out at an apartment building in eastern China, state-run media reported on Tuesday. The state-run Xinhua news agency said the fire broke out at around 11.25 p.m. local time on Monday on the third floor of a 7-story residential building in Wenzhou City, located in Zhejiang Province. A spokesman with the Wenzhou City Fire Department said firefighters were able to rescue four people from the burning building. One of those rescued later died in an area hospital. Six others were pronounced dead at the scene. It was not immediately clear what caused the deadly fire, and an investigation has been launched. The fire itself was extinguished at around 1.15 a.m. local time, Xinhua added. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2011-04-12
