BEIJING, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- The Chinese Government on Tuesday announced that it had signed a joint communique with Brazil to boost trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who began her six-day official visit to China on Monday, and Chinese President Hu Jintao signed the agreement after gathering at the Great of Hall of the People in Beijing, China, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The agreement includes an expansion in two-way investments in various sectors such as high-tech industry, automobile, energy, mining and logistics. In addition, the two countries will increase cooperation in the aviation industry, especially in business jets and regional aircraft.

With Brazil set to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, the South American also invited Chinese companies to bid for its high-speed railways projects, as a partnership is expected to be established to construct further infrastructure for the upcoming events.

Bilateral talks also included strengthening animal and plant quarantine and food safety, the promotion of Brazil's poultry and beef companies, and the expansion of the countries' import and export products list to include Brazil's gelatin, corn, tobacco leaf, bovine embryos, bovine semen and citrus fruits as well as China's pear, apple and citrus fruits.

Rousseff is scheduled to attend BRICS' third summit, which gathers leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as well as the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia.
