Silk Thread Bkk Or Overseas?

After being unable to buy linen or silk thread in both Nepal and Bangladesh I don't want to be stuck in Thailand without supplies to do some hand sewing and embroidery. Technically, Chinese or Vietnamese silk thread of many colours *should* be available in Thailand but stranger things have happened. The problems I have with fabric (cheating on actual fabric content) could be the same for thread. I know from experience that I found it impossible to find linen thread in Bangkok. HAs anyone been able to buy silk thread at a fair pric? Silk thread is available in the west (both EU and USA) in a broad range of colours - at a rather high price but it *is* available.
