White Water Kayaking

Featured Replies

Hi all. I live in Chiang Mai and was wondering if there was any other white water kayakers in the area. Or anyone who is keen to learn white water kayaking and explore the beautiful rivers of the region when it starts to rain.

If you are interested please let me know.

Cheers Carl,

There are plenty of streams to Kayak but not alot of white water to kayak that I've found. You can find plenty class 1 and 2 waters within a easy days drive, and a few short stretches of class 3, during and following the rainy season. Riding down from Chiang Dao following decent rains is fun but not exciting. The area out around Cave lodge provides some fun water during the high water season. Hoping this rainy season we can explore the north reaches of the Nan and Wa rivers. See http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/349790-kayaking-on-the-ping-river for a peacefull option close to Chiang Mai - definitely class 1 waters. Grealy enjoyed it several times with groups of my sons classmates -

Do miss playing on the

, which were a short distance from our last residence.

Would love also to find more challenging water!

Cheers
