After looking around, I bought an Electrolux at the department store at Central Airport Plaza. 3,000 baht, 650 watts, stainless steel body and a glass pitcher was the best deal I could find. I read somewhere that if you want to blend veggies get at least 500 watts and I'd agree with that. Mine strains when I put a lot in it but it's good enough. One thing I couldn't get in that price range was a plunger to manipulate the contents at full speed, which would be nice but not absolutely necessary.

I agree that good bananas have a sweetness that can overcome even veggies. After having a green smoothie every day for four months I got tired of them but I'm going to start up again when the red Vietnamese dragon fruit come into season. Beautiful color and delicious taste, much better than the ones that are white inside in my opinion. But before you decide to take lots of soi every day you might want to read up on the dangers.
