KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A helicopter carrying six people has been reported missing near Pakistan's Indus River on Wednesday, local media reported.

The helicopter's pilot, which reportedly lost contact with the air control room shortly after takeoff, noted a technical failure and tried to make an emergency landing, reports said, and according to Pakistan's Express Tribune, the private chopper had crashed and no wreckage had been found.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred near Sewhan Sharif's river bank, around 200 kilometers (124 miles) northwest of Karachi.

Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations, the Police and the Rangers have said no wreckage has been found in a 50 kilometer (31 mile) radius of the area, but no further information was released.
